버추얼박스(VirtualBox) 6.0.6이 4월 17일에 공개되었습니다. 공개 소식을 근 한 달만에 적게 되는군요. 소식을 늦게 전해드리게 되어 죄송합니다.
이번 버전 역시 설치 및 업그레이드 방법은 이전 버전의 그것과 대동소이하므로 6.0.4를 전해드렸던 경우와 마찬가지로 따로 적지 않도록 하겠습니다. 이후의 버전도 설치나 업그레이드에서 커다란 변화가 일지 않는 한 따로 적지 않도록 하겠습니다.
설치나 업그레이드 그외 사용 방법 등은 이전 연재 내용을 참고하시기 바랍니다.

버추얼박스 업그레이드 시 주의사항
VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter 찾기 실패 오류
버추얼박스를 업그레이드 또는 설치하고 확장팩까지 설치한 후 기존 가상 머신을 실행하면 오류가 나는 경우가 있습니다. 여러 오류들 중 다음과 같은 오류가 발생하는 경우에 대해 알아보고자 합니다.
사실 버추얼박스 6.0에서 6.0.4로 업그레이드할 때는 문제를 겪지 않았던 부분입니다. 단지 가상 머신 실행 후 호스트 네트워크 관리자 내 어댑터 설정을 기존값으로 재설정해주는 것만으로 문제가 해결되었었습니다.
그런데 버추얼박스 6.0.4에서 6.0.6으로 업그레이드 한 후 가상 머신을 실행하면 위 팝업창이 뜨면서 가상 머신 자체가 실행되지 않았습니다. VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter를 찾을 수 없는 경우입니다.
실행하고자 하는 가상 머신의 네트워크 정보를 확인해봅시다.
네트워크의 각 어댑터를 잘 확인합시다. 특히 호스트 전용 어댑터의 이름이 중요합니다. VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter #2이네요. 이것을 잘 기억해두도록 합니다.
버추얼박스의 업그레이드 또는 설치 후 호스트 네트워크를 설정해주어야 합니다. 파일 - 호스트 네트워크 관리자로 들어가 Create 버튼을 눌러 VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter를 생성해줍니다.
위 그림과 같이 VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter가 생성됩니다. 그러나 기존 가상머신에 등록된 것은 VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter가 아니라 VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter #2입니다.
Create 버튼을 한번 더 눌러 위 그림처럼 VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter #2를 생성해줍니다.
그리고 VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter #2를 선택 후 Properties 버튼을 눌러 해당 어댑터의 속성을 가상 머신에서 사용 중이던 값으로 재설정 해줍니다. 수동으로 어댑터 설정에서 IPv4 주소값을 기존의 값으로 설정해주시면 됩니다. 그후 적용 버튼을 눌러 적용해줍니다.
그 다음 버추얼박스 가상머신 설정 부분에 들어가 위 그림처럼 어댑터 2 탭 항목에서 호스트 전용 어댑터에 연결시키고 이름을 VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter #2로 설정하고 확인 버튼을 눌러줍니다. 그 다음 가상 머신을 실행하면 문제 없이 실행될 것입니다.
